Do you belong to the kind of people who just cannot get enough of the ever-returning flashbacks at the end of each year, reviewing the past and selecting the highlights of the previous 365 (and sometimes 366) days? Yes? Then read on! No? Read on anyway!
Hold on to your hats ladies and gentlemen, as I am about to fire five of the finest tekkno-sets of 2011 available on SoundCloud at you (even if the year ain’t over yet, haha)! SoundCloud is a wonderful platform to discover talented producers, but it is further possible to find great showcases of DJ-skills or thrilling mix-sets with fantastic track-selections.

After having released my own “Release The Fury Volume 5″-mix just before the end of the year, it is now time for me to show my selection of personal favourites. In my personal opinion, the following downloadable DJ-sets on SoundCloud belong to the best mixes 2011 has brought us:
1. DJ Quartzlocker at Belushis (26.11.2011)
Apparently a very recent mix, this set by DJ Quartzlocker from France has it all (and even comes with a tracklist, yay!). More than one hour of sweet industrial hardcore-beats in a solid mix have totally convinced me of this DJ’s qualities. In his SoundCloud comment-bar below the waveform, the artist has even timestamped the whole session to let you know when a certain track is playing. It is hard to do better than this French artist did. The track-selection is great just like the spot-on mixing, and thus I claim that Quartzlocker’s set is essential for lovers of harder tekkno-music. “C’est un mix incontournable” like the French would say!
2. Earbleeder – Alpha
Alpha is the very simple name chosen for an enjoyable blend of industrial hardcore-tunes created using a Pioneer DJM 800 mixing-table and a pair of CDJ 900s. Earbleeder comes from down under (Melbourne actually) and did a great job behind the CD-decks. Recently I came across more and more skilled Australian hardcore- and darktekkno-artists, which really makes me want to pay a visit to their distant continent one day. With tracklists like the one Earbleeder provides for this mix, Australian nightlife just cannot be boring I guess.
3. Hard Head – The Appetizer Of October 2011: Acid Techno
The man behind the third session in my list of 2011 SoundCloud-favourites is Jorge Duarte Rodriguez aka Hard Head from Southern Spain. He uploaded a relentlessly pounding DJ-mix filled with cool acid-tunes for us and a download is highly recommended. If fast-paced acid-action is your thing, then this session should please you well.
4. Acid2Fik – Don’t Worry It’s Acid
Over 84 minutes of acid let you forget your worries and be happy with “Don’t Worry It’s Acid” by Acid2Fik from Lyon in France. I came across his music on the internet many years ago already, and his excellent 100% pure acid-set makes me really sad about not having checked out the local scene despite my very numerous visits around the areas of Lyon and Grenoble. Acid2Fik knows what good acid sounds like, and his mix-session shows this in an impressing way.
5. Tiago Technohead – Hello UK Acid Tekno Lovers (4.9.2011)
Yeah right, I know I have already promoted this mix earlier this year, but Tiago’s DJ-set is still everything but boring, and hence “Hello UK Acid Tekno Lovers” deserves to be in the spotlight one more time. This is a hard blend of good British acid-tekkno mixed far away from the island of Great Britain, as it was made in sunny Brazil. Tiago Santos aka Tiago Technohead produces his own music too and his track “Start Here” was recently featured in my own DJ-mix “Release The Fury Volume 5″ (available from this blog’s download-section).
I recommend you should download them all and furthermore I encourage you to register to SoundCloud, drop comments on these artists’ works and follow their profiles for future updates. The good job done by all of these artists deserves full support and let us look at 2012 with high hopes for more hard-banging quality-tekkno!
If there are other great DJ-sets you came across on SoundCloud, please feel free to drop a comment here and share your personal favourites with the readers of the blog!
